“Mosaic”

Just like a mosaic is made up of many individual tiles, our lives are made up of many individual moments and choices. Each tile, each moment, is unique and contributes to the overall picture. Life as a mosaic is that no two people's lives are exactly the same. Just like no two mosaics are the same, each person's mosaic is unique. No two people have the exact same experiences, relationships, or memories. And that's what makes life so beautiful - the endless variety and uniqueness of each person's mosaic.

Miami University's Fashion and Jewelry Departments collaborated to create looks for the 19th Annual Fashion Show’s overall theme “Mosaic”. I worked closely with Irene Nicholson to develop a look inspired by chainmail. We were drawn to the parallels between traditional mosaic and chainmail. Both are composed of many small, individual pieces brought together to form a cohesive whole. Just as mosaic tiles create a unified image, chainmail is assembled from metal rings, reflective tiles, and etched plates, forming a fabric of its own a metallic mosaic.
